Finding the Available Control Caption Accelerator Characters

To find the available caption accelerators for a control

1. Select the control whose available caption accelerators you want to view.

   This process includes all superclasses and all subclasses of the current form.

2. Select the Find Available Caption Accelerator Characters command from the Controls menu.

All of the used accelerator characters for other controls on the form, all superclasses, and all subclasses of the current form are gathered and removed from the caption string of the currently selected control, leaving the list of available characters in the control caption that are available to be used as a unique accelerator, as shown in the following image.

After selecting a control and clicking the Find Available Caption Accelerator Characters command, the Accelerator Search message box displays one of the following.

• All alpha/numeric characters in the caption have already been used as accelerators on other controls on this form [and sub-class forms]

• The character character is available to be used as an accelerator

• The following characters are available to be used as an accelerator: character‑list

The menu command is disabled if a control is not selected or if the selected control does not have a caption property.
