Brief of Evidence
A brief of evidence is a set of files containing:
-
A narrative of the facts in the case.
-
Allegations and references to relevant legislation regarding the allegations.
-
Evidence that proves the alleged offences.
Brief of evidence is an optional, licensed feature in ICM that makes it easier to prepare documents for court.
You can use it to produce a document containing relevant material that has been collected and generated during an investigation.
This document is formatted to enable the prosecutor to:
-
Understand the allegations.
-
Assess evidence about allegations.
-
Decide which charges are appropriate, whether they should be laid, and who they should be laid against.
-
Identify any further evidence the investigation should try to obtain.
-
Provide appropriate disclosure of the prosecution case to the defence.
-
Prosecute the case in court.
