Maintaining the Value of a Runtime Dynamic Property

You can maintain the value of a runtime dynamic property by using the following methods of the Object class.

Method Description
deletePropertyValue Sets the value of the property specified by the name parameter to null
getPropertyValue Returns the value of the property specified by the name parameter
setPropertyValue Sets the property of the receiver to the specified value
tryGetPropertyValue Returns the value of the specified property, if it exists; otherwise it returns false

In the following example, the value of a runtime dynamic property, called email, is set to wilbur@somewhere.com for an instance of the Customer class.

vars
    cust : Customer;
begin
    beginTransaction;
    create cust;
    cust.setPropertyValue("email","wilbur@somewhere.com");
    commitTransaction;
end;

You cannot access a runtime dynamic property directly by name in a JADE method; for example, the following instruction would not compile.

cust.email := "wilbur@somewhere.com";
